Transcription: The torching of synagogues on the night of November 9th, coupled with mass arrests and banishment to concentration camps of around 25,000 Jewish men across Germany, prompted extremely severe responses among the Jews. Overnight, the Germans' actions replaced the Jews' last vestiges of personal security with panic and dread. The Jewish leadership attempted to take action to improve matters. But they hardly stood a chance.
